One of my first projects there is going to be making my own workbench.
Cabinet makers workbench. This hardware is righthanded only. The large top provides plenty of room to work on any project. The decision was made to built a cabinetmakers workbench. I had a few hundred board feet of white oak in the shop that i bought a few years ago.
The solid wood top also features a large face vise and shop built tail vise. I have my old bench to run routers on etc. And it starts with the worksurface. I wanted a bench to do handwork only on no machines would ever come near this bench.
Made from solid european beech construction and treated with oil. Begin by fastening the plate to the bench. It consists of a plate that s fastened to the bench and a cage that s fastened to the tail vise assembly. From what i gathered the design will be left up to me.
First glue a block b4 under the bench flush with the top s edge to increase the top s thickness see fig. Question as some of you know i will be starting my new job at a custom cabinet shop on monday.
